New Publication Offers Tips On Avoiding Credit Card Debt
BROOKINGS, S.D. -- A new publication from South Dakota State University Extension offers tips on using credit cards wisely.
SDSU Extension Extra 14082, "Consequences of Living On the Credit Card," emphasizes that living on the credit card should only be temporary. The publication discusses specific information about good and bad debt, using credit wisely, the consequences of overuse, getting out of debt, and staying out of debt. A list of suggested resources for further study is also provided.
The publication is available through county Extension offices or find it online at http://agbiopubs.sdstate.edu/articles/ExEx14082.pdf.
In 2002, the average household debt across the country increased more than 9 percent. According to Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, that shows the largest increase since 1989.
The publication is co-written by Liz Gorham, SDSU Extension family
resource management specialist, and Debra Pankow, a North Dakota State
University Extension family economics specialist.
