South Dakota youth attend SDSU dairy camp

participated in the second annual dairy camp at South Dakota State
University, May 25-27. The SDSU Dairy Club hosted the camp.
“The youth visited SDSU’s dairy plant and made their
own ice cream using a coffee can, a zip lock bag, and basic ice cream
ingredients,” Dairy Club Advisor Darrel Rennich said. The campers also
participated in “Farmer Olympics,” which included team obstacle games
such as filling a calf bottle with water, climbing over a stack of
straw bales and digging through cottonseed to find golf balls.
Camp activities on the second day included sessions
on fitting, showmanship, judging, and oral reasoning, and a field trip
to Crosswinds Dairy of Elkton.
