Thanks to contributions, more people can get science-based quality health care information from the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service's "On Call®" program.

The Brookings Health System, Fishback Financial Corporation, and the Larson Foundation began providing support for closed captioning for "On Call" in May. The step allows more viewers to not only watch, but to take part in the show.

"We send our sincere thanks to the sponsors who have made our program's closed captioning possible, because without them, we would not be able to provide that service," said "On Call" producer and host Tami Watson. "We also appreciate the efforts of South Dakota Public Broadcasting-Television in providing technical support that makes closed captioning possible.  It demonstrates their commitment to reach a wider audience, including the hearing impaired."

The South Dakota State Medical Association and the South Dakota Department of Health both endorse "On Call" and its programming. "On Call" is the only show to receive these endorsements.

The program is made possible by major underwriter support from Avera Health and the South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care. Additional sponsors include Dakotacare, Brookings Health System, the South Dakota American College of Physicians, Swiftel Communications, and the Friends of SDPB.

"On Call" airs Thursdays on South Dakota Public Broadcasting-Television at 7 p.m. Central, 6 p.m. Mountain. "On Call" is a weekly program about health produced by the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service.
