When the weather gets hot, people can expect trips to the pool and ice cream shop. Unfortunately, heat stroke, West Nile Virus, and other illnesses come along with summer's heat.

On July 16, the "On Call®" program will look closely at illnesses that are often related to summer.

Medical editor Dr. Rick Holm and program producer and host Tami Watson will discuss summer illnesses with their guests, Dr. Chuck Hinton of Brookings Health System, and Dr. Sarah Sarbacker of Dakota Dermatology in Sioux Falls.

Watson said Dr. Hinton's experience as an emergency room physician and Dr. Sarbacker's dermatological expertise will give viewers of the show a strong resource for answers.

"Our guests provide two diverse medical points of view, and they will be able to help us answer questions on summer illnesses from sunburn to water-related accidents," Watson said. "We will also look at insect-borne diseases, and other topics viewers want to discuss."

"On Call" airs Thursdays on South Dakota Public Broadcasting-Television at 7 p.m. Central, 6 p.m. Mountain. "On Call" is a weekly program about health produced by the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service.
